Can I make salt water for my hermit crabs with regular table salt?

I keep buying the salt water but they go though it so fast. Can I make it at home with regular salt or do I have to buy a special salt? Is it cheaper to just keep buying the salt water already mixed?

GucciGir… would recommend buying a box of aquarium salt for saltwater fishes. You cannot use table salt for their water and i would not recommend using sea salt simply because sometimes sea salt can have added ingredient such as iodine that is harmful to crabs. Also it is hard to obtain the correct level of salinity for your crabs. I buy a box of Instant Ocean aquarium salt. It is eight dollars. I mix one cup with a gallon of water. And it will last me 6-7 months. whereas a bottle will get used up VERY quickly and you will constantly be refilling it.
